New Volunteer Positions Open with SACT

Softball ACT is pleased to anounce we are now taking applications for the following oppourtunities. These volunteer roles are very important to the sucessful running of our competitions and state program. 

We are currently looking for successful aplicants in 3 roles. 

ACT Chief Statistician

1. The ACT Chief Statistician shall be appointed by the Board.

2. To be eligible for nomination for ACT Chief Statistician a person shall be:

      (a) a statistician qualified at Level 2 or higher;

      (b) an active statistician in the ACT.  This qualification shall not be necessary for re-appointment.

3. Where no nominations are received or where there is no person eligible for nomination the Board shall take such steps as it deems appropriate to fill the position with the best-qualified person available.

The ACT Chief Statistician shall:

      (a) report to the Board and make recommendations in relation to scoring matters;

      (b) accept and implement all directions from the Board in relation to scoring matters;

      (c) develop and co-ordinate SACT's scoring program within Clubs and Affiliated Associations, including training, clinics and examinations;

      (e) maintain a list of accredited statisticians in the ACT;

      (f) represent SACT at all national meetings of statisticians arranged by or through SA; and

      (g) be responsible for other matters relating to scoring.

 

ACT Chief Umpire

1. The ACT Chief Umpire shall be appointed by the Board.

2. To be eligible for nomination for ACT Chief Umpire a person shall:

      (a) be an umpire examiner qualified at Examiner Level 1 or higher;

      (b) be an active umpire at ACT level.  This qualification shall not be necessary for re-appointment; and

      (c) not hold any other umpiring position reporting directly or indirectly to the Board nor be the President of the Umpires Association.

3. Where no nominations are received or where there is no person eligible for nomination the Board shall take such steps as it deems appropriate to fill the position with the most qualified person available.  If a suitable person for the position has not been identified within 30 days of the Board Meeting at which the position would ordinarily be filled the Board may consider appointing the President of the Umpires Association or a person holding any other umpiring position reporting directly or indirectly to the Board to the position.

The ACT Chief Umpire shall:

      (a) report to the Board and make recommendations in relation to umpiring matters;

      (b) accept and implement all directions from the Board in relation to umpiring matters;

      (c) co-ordinate SACT's umpiring program within Affiliated Associations;

      (d) chair meetings of umpiring representatives from Affiliated Associations; and

      (e) carry out duties as required by SAs 'Umpires Code'.

The ACT Chief Umpire shall be responsible for:

      (a) the recruitment, training, selection and appointment of Umpires;

      (b) the examination and accreditation of umpires in accordance with SAL's Umpire Accreditation Scheme;

      (c) maintenance of SACT's umpiring library;

      (d) maintenance of a list of accredited umpires in the ACT; and

      (e) other matters relating to Umpiring.

4.                   The ACT Chief Umpire shall represent SACT at all meetings of the National Umpiring Committee and State Directors of Umpiring.

 

ACT Coaching Administrator

1. The ACT Coaching Administrator shall be appointed by the Board.

2. To be eligible for nomination for ACT Coaching Administrator a person shall be:

      (a) a coach qualified at Performance Level or higher; and

      (b) an active coach in the ACT.  This qualification shall not be necessary for re-appointment.

3.  Where no nominations are received or where there is no person eligible for nomination the Board shall take such steps as it deems appropriate to fill the position with the best-qualified person available.

The ACT Coaching Administrator shall:

      (a) report to the Board and make recommendations in relation to coaching matters;

      (b) accept and implement all directions from the Board in relation to coaching matters;

      (c) develop and co-ordinate SACT's coaching program;

      (d) maintain SACT's coaching library;

      (e) maintain a list of accredited coaches in the ACT;

      (f) represent SACT at all meetings of SA's National Coaching Advisory Committee; and

      (g) be responsible for any other matters relating to coaching.
